The Photograph Collection contains still photographic images of the University of Florida, its staff and students, and events associated with its history. Prints are divided into four files: Place File, Personal Name File, Agricultural File, and Subject File. The Subject File documents activities, such as research, instruction, sports, ceremonies, and artistic performances. The Personal name file contains images of administrative officers, faculty, and student leaders. The Place File contains photographs of buildings and scenery at the Gainesville campus, the University's agricultural research centers, and at two predecessor institutions, the Florida Agricultural College at Lake City and the East Florida Seminary at Gainesville. The Agricultural File is a subject file for images associated with the University's agricultural programs as well as photographs donated to the Archives by farmers and ranchers. Negatives are accessed through a computerized index.

The original campus plans for the University of Florida at Gainesville were developed by the firm of Edwards & Walter. Edwards & Walter were contracted to design and layout the campus buildings in 1905. Additional plans were developed by the firm's successor, Edward and Sayward. In 1925, Rudolph Weaver, Director of the University's School of Architecture, assumed the position of Architect for the Board of Control and was responsible for campus planning throughout the state. ...
